Will you Trade your Voice for Money?

These days, we have seen advertisers and marketers promoting their product actively via all sorts of social media platforms, tools and recently, there was this company who created another method where you could generate income by selling reviews.

Recent news reported by Daily Mail UK, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7819903/Millions-families-duped-buying-shoddy-goods-Amazon.html , has found a USD 16.87 is charged to companies who use an army of ‘testers’ to post up to four and five star reviews online through the leading online e-commerce sites Amazon. However, nothing comes for free, the testers will be paid in a small incentives and refund for the cost of purchasing products in which they have to put the review onto the website.

An employee of Daily Mail has gone undercover posing as a potential client was told that they could get the review at a cheaper rates if they buy on a package. If you don’t like the comments, you can request to change the tester too. I mean, what kind of mastermind are behind this?

However, the UK Competition and Markets Authority has released a statement that “fake reviews are illegal and writing or commissioning them can lead to civil or criminal action. It estimates that £23billion a year of spending is influenced by online reviews.” What if those are “genuine” by the tester, different people might have different perspectives. For instance you might like to drive this type of car because of the brand despite the poor interior and safety of the car features, wouldn’t it?

Allow me to walk you through to our one of our leading e-commerce in Southeast Asia which has recently blooming in terms of sales and profit of the year, Lazada. Here’s how it works for reviews in Lazada;

5 minutes can get RM 10, it is better than working as a part-timer 1 hour which equivalent to RM 7-10 ? Somemore this is only working on reviews, write positive things about it so long you have an account with Lazada. Woah!!

World Tech Feed has assigned a member to further such investigation, apparently something similar happening now in Singapore and Malaysia as well.

Based on the selection, per review with targeted countries Malaysia and Singapore will cost you USD 20 which is more pricy in comparison to Amazon Testers, will you go for it? This is either legal or illegal action as both parties agreed to be involved in this business transaction and well aware on the purposes. Whose right or wrong, there was a grey line in between. Don’t you think?

On a side note, Lazada has agreed to ensure the product quality assurance and twice of the refund amount should the product is detected fake. But question is, how do they find out the reviews if it is fake or not rather than the product itself? What metrics measures would they be using then?

Or, registered sellers on Lazada will be able to explore on purchasing Lazada reviews for packages like the below:

Sharing from the thought as an online consumer, I often look up heavily on reviews before purchasing a product online. Reason being is to prevent myself by getting a trashy product which might cost me a bomb and regret afterward.

To consumer like us today, is it safe to purchase based on the reviews shown in Lazada now?

Such conduct of act, comment below, if you think this is ethical or not?

This is truly an opinion sharing to people we always care, and the message we would want you all to know. Till next time…
